The Boothbay Harbor branch of Bangor Savings Bank opened in Meadow Mall on May 23 with a full remodel of the previous Key Bank office. The work took four months and included significant energy upgrades.

Looking to achieve a more contemporary feel, Jaclyn Fish, Bangor Savings Vice President and community relations manager, explained, “(The) renovation included insulating the space per modern energy codes, all new plumbing fixtures, new and energy-efficient windows, LED lighting, and a new highly efficient cold weather heat pump HVAC system with energy recovery ventilation.”

General contractor Landry/French Construction created the re-designed space that includes extensive use of glass in the offices, more windows and higher ceilings.

The new branch is the bank’s 59th in Maine. “The branch is conveniently positioned close to Route 27, offering an accessible location to further support the financial well-being of our customers,” Fish said. Other area branches are in Damariscotta and Brunswick.

“We are thrilled to demonstrate our continued commitment to the families and communities in the region, and thank them for the important work they do,” Fish said.

The bank recently donated $28,000 to six local nonprofits that support health and wellness, basic needs, and arts and culture. Boothbay Region Health Center, Boothbay Region YMCA, the Opera House and Boothbay Region Land Trust each received $5,000 and Boothbay Region Ambulance Service and Community Resource Council each received $4,000 in donations, Fish said.

Assistant Vice President and branch manager Tracy Warlick and a staff of four provide business and personal banking services at the branch with the lobby and drive up window open Monday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays between 9 a.m. and noon. In the weeks since the opening Warlick said she has seen a mix of customers, both longtime and new.

She also said Bangor Savings has a unique program offering payroll and human resources services to small businesses. The branch is looking to hire a part-time staffer, a job Warlick said is “ideal for a retiree or someone looking for mother’s hours.”

Warlick is a resident of Woolwich who hails from North Haven. She is a graduate of Husson College and, after working in her family’s business, has been in banking for the past six years.

“It’s all about building relationships,” she said when asked about managing the local branch.
