UPDATE: Flood warning for Saline County expires

UPDATE: The flood warning for Saline County has expired.

UPDATE 10:45 a.m. Saturday: The National Weather Service in Wichita has extended the flood warning for Saline County to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

At 10:07 a.m. CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Thunderstorms with heavy rain have ended, however residual flooding remains a concern.

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don`t drown.

Flood warnings have been issued for parts of Saline and Ellsworth counties.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a flood warning in effect for Saline County until 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

At 4 a.m. CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches were possible in the warned area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Salina, Assaria, Gypsum, Brookville, Smolan, New Cambria, Falun, Salina Airport, Bridgeport, and Kipp.

Additionally, the National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a flood warning in effect for Ellsworth County until 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Ellsworth, Kanopolis, Geneseo, Lorraine, Ellsworth Airport, Kanopolis Lake, and Kanopolis State Park.
