New Waterford Fire Department celebrates 90 years of service

NEW WATERFORD, Ohio (WKBN) – New Waterford Fire and EMS has served the community for 90 years.

To celebrate the anniversary, the departments invited the community to learn more about their day-to-day roles. They demonstrated car extractions and fire simulations.

Education is important to staff.

For the last few years, they have expanded the opportunities for those looking to join the force.

“We are partnering up with Crestview High School to be able to have classes there, and the goal is also to start offering some classes to their high school students in the future as well,” said New Waterford EMS Chief Jaime Jones.

Jones said they plan to continue expanding educational opportunities. The next goal is to bring in a fire charter to train firefighters.

The department also hosts a variety of everyday safety training courses, including CPR. You can visit their Facebook page for more information.
