From the very beginning, Knott’s Berry Farm has had a close connection with fried chicken. Before it was a theme park, Knott’s Berry Farm sold berries and fried chicken to local Buena Park residents.

Back in June 1934 when Cordelia Knott first fried chicken dinner meal at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant, a meal was 65 cents. This was done to make ends meet during the Great Depression. Cordelia would serve the chicken dinners on her best wedding china! The success of these chicken dinners was immediate. By 1940, visitors would be standing in line for hours on end to have Cordelia’s famous fried chicken.

Decades later, Mrs. Knott’s signature fried chicken dinner meal continues to be served with its family-style dining. It also is available to go for those who would like to grab and go. It includes the herb-seasoned fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, tossed green salad, cherry rhubarb, kernel corn, along with freshly-made buttermilk biscuits with butter and boysenberry preserve. And of course, what would dinner be without dessert? Each meal also is served with a slice of Mrs. Knott’s famous boysenberry pie. All of the meals are prepared by Knott’s culinary team with the freshest of ingredients. On average, an average of 1,000 chicken meals per day are served by the kitchen. This means that 1.5 million guests per year are served this iconic meal.
