(UPDATE: Saturday, July 2, 2022 11:00 P.m.)
The Tennessee Highway Patrol released new details of a police pursuit that blocked I-24 Eastbound for several hours Saturday morning.
THP says 18-year-old Marcus Ragsdale of Chattanooga was driving a 2009 BMW 550 and fled from a sobriety checkpoint in Georgia.
Ragsdale was able to evaded from Georgia into Tennessee.
Official say the pursuit traveled I-75 north to I-24 West and back eastbound on I-24.
THP says Ragsdale lost control and struck the end of a traffic barrier and a boat that was being towed by a truck, causing the truck to rotate on its side.
Officials say the suspect then climbed out of the window and began to run off the I-Road into the woods. A perimeter was set up and a CPD K9 was able to locate Ragsdale.
He was taken into custody and was found to be intoxicated by narcotics according to police. Ragsdale also had multiple outstanding warrants.
THP says the driver of the truck hauling the boat had minor injuries from the crash.
