A third police officer has died after the shooting in Floyd County that took place Thursday evening. This brings the death toll to three officers and a K9 unit.

Floyd County officials say Sheriff’s Deputy William Petry and Prestonsburg City Police Captain Ralph Frasure were killed on Thursday, as was a K9 unit named Drago. The Prestonsburg Police Department has confirmed, in a Facebook post, a third officer, Canine Handler Jacob Chaffins has also died from his injuries.

Officers had responded to a scene Thursday evening to deal with a domestic dispute and were fired upon by the alleged gunman, 49-year-old Lance Storz of Allen, Kentucky. A standoff lasted several hours and has now left three police officers dead and five others wounded, Storz was taken into custody. He was arraigned Friday, and his bond has been set for 10 million dollars.
