HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Jerry Spady automotive crew hosted its 3rd Annual Firework Extravaganza Friday.

They spent around six months preparing this for the community to make it bigger and better than ever.

They kicked off Friday morning with a Kid’s Fishing Derby followed by pedal boat races.

After lunch the Jerry Spady crew and the community came back to find inflatables and games set up my Rockit Event Pros.

There were food trucks on site along with live entertainment by Nashville recording artist Tim Zach.

The main event was the fireworks at 10 p.m. The first year they did a big fireworks show.

“Our general manager Dan kind of just said let’s just get together with some people from the dealership, we’ll light some fireworks have a BBQ and do some things well that kind of boiled over and I think we had several hundred people that came out for the first year; it was kind of a backyard type firework show,” said Service Manager Matt Sheehan.

The year after that, there was a firework malfunction, which led to a very pretty show, but only for about three minutes, Matt said.

The president of Jerry Spady, Greg Spady, even went to a pyrotechnic course after the malfunction to be extra prepared this time around.

“Guess I’m the fireworks guy, I got some help, couple guys from Lincoln and we’re gonna put on the biggest show we’ve put on in the last three years and this year it’s going to go with music. So we’ll have the music piped into the sound system and the fireworks will go with five or six songs,” Spady said.

Diane Dube was the mastermind behind organizing the event.
