An Arnold man was accused of dealing drugs after police said they found nearly 1.5 ounces of crack cocaine, scales, guns and cash when they raided his home.

Aaron Robert Hughes Jr., 37, of the 1700 block of Constitution Boulevard was charged with a felony count of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver along with counts of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hughes was released from the Westmoreland County jail after a New Kensington bail agency posted a $50,000 bond on his behalf. He faces a preliminary hearing July 7 before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr., according to court records.

A narcotics agent with the state Attorney General’s Office wrote in a criminal complaint that he was working with the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force and Arnold police to execute a search warrant at Hughes’ home June 24, according to a criminal complaint.

Police knocked on Hughes’ door about 10:15 a.m. and took him into custody after two other occupants came out with their hands up, the complaint said. The two other people in the home were detained but not charged.

Investigators who searched the house said they found a Cheez-It box in the kitchen with 40.5 grams of crack cocaine inside along with two digital scales and a substance used to “cut” cocaine to increase the amount that can be sold.

A mixing bowl and strainer with residue that field-tested positive for cocaine also was found in the kitchen.

Police said Hughes had $8,000 in cash in the master bedroom along with three bags containing an unspecified amount of marijuana, the complaint said.

A digital scale and a Rossi .22-caliber rifle were found in the home’s basement. Police also found a Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol inside a suitcase in the living room, the complaint said.
