The road did not treat the bullpens of the Danville Otterbots and Pulaski River Turtles well on Friday night.
The Otterbots (14-13) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in Bristol, but the State Liners chipped away with runs in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings, finally taking the lead to edge the 'Bots, 6-5. Socrates Bardatos and Patrick Keighran both plated runs on RBI doubles, while Jevin Relaford had an RBI triple in the 7th for the game's final run. Bristol (9-18) struck out 17 Danville batters on the night.
Meanwhile, first place Burlington rallied late to get past Pulaski, 5-2. The River Turtles (12-15) led 2-0 in the 6th, thanks to a Konner Kinkade sac fly and a bases loaded walk to Irvin Escobar. Hunter Hargett got a no-decision, despite striking out 10 batters over 6 innings, as the River Turtles bullpen couldn't keep the lead, as Burlington (21-6)'s Kole Myers blasted his 5th home run of the season for the game winning run.
Danville hosts first-place Burlington for a two game set beginning Saturday at Dan Daniel Park, while Pulaski hosts the Princeton Whistlepigs (11-15) at Calfee Park.
