Three people die from suspected drug overdose in Gadsden County

Gadsden County, Fla. (WCTV) - Three people were found dead in Gadsden County from suspected drug overdoses during the start of the holiday weekend, according to multiple law enforcement agencies.

The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the death of two women found inside a home in the St. Hebron Community in Quincy Friday night. They also said a man died following a drug overdose.

Preliminary findings determined that three deaths along with multiple reports of drug overdoses were likely from drugs such as cocaine and marijuana mixed with fentanyl according to a statement from the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office. The Drug Enforcement Administration released a statement on social media Saturday afternoon confirming deaths from a “mass fentanyl poisoning” in Gadsden County.

Law enforcement in Gadsden and Leon counties warned residents of what they believe to be a spike in fentanyl related drug overdoses in the area. Gadsden Emergency Medical Services responded to more than 10 drug related calls Friday and 15 on Saturday.

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office told WCTV that deputies planned to go to nightclubs Saturday night to pass out flyers and warn people about drugs being found to be laced with fentanyl.

Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young “wants people to abstain to the use of any illegal street drugs due to the potential of being laced” with fentanyl, according to a Facebook post from Saturday.

Law enforcement ask anyone with information on the overdose investigation or know of anyone distributing illegal drugs to call the Big Bend Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.

QUINCY, Fla. (WCTV) - Deputies with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office were investigating the death of two women found dead inside a home in the St. Hebron Community off of Hutley Road in Quincy.

The women’s bodies were discovered Friday evening, according to FDLE, who was assisting in the investigation. Following a preliminary investigation, they believed the women’s deaths were drug related. Officials said there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play suspected at this time.

Investigators said this is still an active and ongoing investigation pending an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.

GSCO adding, another man in Havana is dead following a drug overdose.
