The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals set execution dates for six death row inmates Friday.
One of those inmates, Scott Eizember, spent more than a month on the run after murdering a Depew couple in 2003. He's set to die in January.
The manhunt for Eizember was one of the longest in Oklahoma history.
Eizember told police there were at least four times where officers got within a few feet of him and they had no idea. During a police interrogation after his arrest Eizember talked about one of those close calls.
"This cop named Charles. If I was a real bada**, he'd have been dead. He was an idiot. He was walking off there, responding to this call. He's got his gun strapped in holster and he's not even turning his head. He's just walking like he's got blinders on. He didn't even see me there," Eizember said in the 2003 interview.
He spent weeks hiding in a Depew church pantry.
After Eizember was spotted, he stole a car and drove to Arkansas, where he ran out of gas. He then kidnapped a doctor and his wife, and forced them to drive 300 miles to Texas.
Police finally caught up with him after 37 days.
