Keystone 11s shut down ‘Sock, 11-0

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Keystone 11-year-old all-stars have advanced to the District 12 championship contest with an 11-0, 4-inning win over Loyalsock Friday evening.

The win was the second in a row for Manager Cole Hanley’s team, following a 13-0 win on June 26 over Montoursville. And for the second game in a row, Keystone pitching was dominant. Starter Bryan Rote and reliever Carson Smith combined on a 3-hitter. Rote went the first three, gave up two hits, walked one and struck out eight; he has now worked seven playoff innings and has given up two hits and no runs.. Smith finished up with one shutout inning, striking out two and surrendering a single.

Meanwhile the Keystone 11s had seven batters spread around nine hits, led by Carter Frank with a single, a double and an RBI. Smith had a double and two RBIs and singles came from Rote,  Landon Jones (with two RBIs), Maverick Shultz (and an RBI), Evan Edwards (with two steals) and Trey Lapp.

Keystone scored early and often: three in the first inning, seven more in the second and one in the third.

With the win Keystone is 2-0 and moves to the championship game at Little League’s Volunteer Stadium on Friday, July 8, the opponent to be determined.
