Legion wins city tournament

Scoring the lone run of the game in the third inning, the American Legion slipped past the Chevy's 1-0 in the championship game of the Peewee baseball city tournament at the Concordia Sports Complex Wednesday evening.
In a game that saw only nine total baserunners, the Legion was able to push across a run in the third.
Brandon Vignery reached on a one-out hit and later scored the only run of the game.
Vignery threw all five innings for the winners, allowing no runs and just four baserunners. He walked just one.
Gehrig Bechard pitched for the Chevy's and allowed the single run. He only allowed five baserunners.
Ayden Krier reached base twice for the American Legion.
The Knights of Columbus won the third-place game 13-9 over the Lions.
The Lions took an early 6-0 lead scoring six runs in the top of the first inning.
The Knights answered with two runs in the first and six in the second to take an 8-6 lead.
Each team scored once in the third to make the score 9-7 in the Knights favor.
The Knights scored four more runs in the fourth to take a 13-7 lead. The Lions added two in the fifth for the 13-9 final.
The Chevy's won the B-Team tournament with a 7-6 victory over the American Legion.
The Knights of Columbus defeated the Lions 11-10 in the third-place game.
