HARRISBURG, Pa.(WHTM) — A fire started near 13th Street on the 1200 block of Kittatinny Street in Harrisburg on the evening of July 1. Four homes were involved.
The fire started in a condemned and collapsing building according to the fire chief.
At this time it is unknown what caused the fire, but neighbors speculate it was caused by fireworks. A resident who lives near the scene said she saw a group of people shooting off fireworks across from her house.
“I hollered out my door at ’em then they moved down the corner and they were right there in front of the store shooting them that over that way,” said Jacquelyn Wenrich, a neighbor.
Isreal Lugo, another neighbor, also spoke with abc27 about the fire. “Soon after the firework he smelled the smoke and he saw the flames right after,” said a translator who assisted with Lugo’s interview.
The American Red Cross is on their way to the scene to assist. It is unknown at this time if anyone suffered injuries.
