There are three ways teams can build a roster when they reach the point of rebuilding (which every team must deal with at some point): through the draft, through trades, or through free agency.
The Utah Jazz have made some big time moves at the deadline in the past.
RUDY GOBERT-2022
Three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Utah Jazz would get Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro and four first-round picks for Gobert, according to the report.
Gobert was selected as the 27th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets and traded that night to Utah.
The 7 foot 1 inch center averaged 15.6 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game during the 2021-2022 season.
JOE INGLES-2022
Utah moved Ingles and Elijah Hughes and two second-round draft picks. The Jazz acquire Nickeil Alexander-Walker from the Trailblazer, Juancho Hernangomez from the Spurs and a second-round draft pick.
Portland got one of Utah's draft picks, Ingles and Hughes, while San Antonio got the other pick and Tomas Satoransky from the Trailblazers.
The veteran player was averaging 7.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 24.9 minutes per game for Utah.
“I’ve been very vocal about me not wanting to be anywhere else and playing out my career here,” he said when meeting with the media in early February. “I still think I have a couple more years to give.”
RICKY RUBIO-2019
Ricky Rubio said the Utah Jazz told him he is no longer a priority for the team, according to a Tweet by Yahoo Sports NBA which cited Ernest Macià, a sports journalist based in Barcelona, Spain.
Rubio joined the Jazz in a 2017 trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves and had been the starting point guard during his two years in Utah.
DERON WILLIAMS-2011
Williams was drafted third overall in the 2005 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz.
He became just the second player in Utah Jazz history to record at least 30 points and 10 or more assists in a playoff game.
Williams became the first player in NBA history to record at least 20 points and 10 or more assists in five straight games in a playoff series.
CARLOS BOOZER-2010
Due of salary cap restrictions, Cleveland declined to match Utah Jazz's six-year, $70 million offer to Boozer.
The two-time NBA All-Star played for the Utah Jazz from 2004-2010. Boozer helped the Jazz win eleven of their first twelve games in the 2006–07 season, earning the Western Conference Player of the Week Award.
