Pop superstar Robbie Williams will headline this year's AFL Grand Final entertainment.

The 48-year-old is one of the most recognisable musicians of the past 25 years, producing iconic hits such as Angels and Let Me Entertain You.

Williams will perform pre-game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, September 24th.

“I am so excited to be performing for all the fans, on the hallowed turf of the MCG, for the biggest game of the year," he said.

“I'm really looking forward to performing with a cast of very talented local Australian musicians and I can't wait to see you all on that last Saturday in September.

“If it goes well, I might even put my hand up to be the next CEO of the AFL."

For the past two seasons, the pre-game entertainment on grand final day has been interrupted due to COVID, so the addition of Williams for this year's match is a huge one.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said there is no better entertainer than Williams for a raucous 100,000-seat stadium.

“We are back at the MCG, back in front of 100,000 fans and no better performer than Robbie Williams to help amplify the atmosphere ahead of the biggest sporting event in the country," he said.
