UPDATE 6:30 P.M. 7/1/2022:
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office reported that Joseph Hayes was found safe around 4:30 p.m. Friday evening near Benton, Arkansas following a citizen report. He was transported to the hospital to be medically evaluated, but will soon be reunited with his family.

The search continues for a missing man from Towanda.
71-year-old Joseph Hayes hasn’t been heard from since Sunday. Family say he’d been lost in Texas after going to visit family in Alabama. Hayes was supposedly headed back to Kansas, but never made it home. Texas police say his phone was tracked near the eastern border, headed toward Arkansas, but that was a couple days ago and nobody has been in contact with Hayes since. He’s driving a black 2014 Dodge Ram truck with Kansas license plate 576-HZW
Hayes is currently the subject of a statewide Silver Alert. Family members report he has shown signs of dementia.
