2 eastern Ky. officers die after being met with hail of gunfire while trying to serve warrant

A major Kentucky interstate was closed for five hours after a man was found deceased on the shoulder of the roadway. The body of 60-year-old Donalt Holt, of Independence, was found near the 12th and Pike Street exit of northbound I-71/I-75 in Kenton County Monday morning just before 7:00, according to a report by WCPO.com and other northern Kentucky media outlets.

A former state representative and official in previous Gov. Matt Bevin’s cabinet has been charged with first-degree rape. John Tilley, 53, a Democrat from Hopkinsville who served five terms in the General Assembly, surrendered to police Monday morning in Lexington and was booked into the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Division of Community Corrections, news outlets report.

Kentucky State Police say two women are still missing after flooding struck eastern Kentucky. The missing women are 60-year-old Vanessa Baker and 29-year-old Nancy Cundiff. Both went missing from Lower River Caney Road in the hard-hit Lost Creek community in Breathitt County. Neither woman has been seen since July 28.
