HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Two people were taken to the hospital on Friday after a crash involving a High Point bus and dump truck, according to the High Point Police Department.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. at the corner of South Main Street and East Kearns Avenue.

Police say a 22-year-old was driving the dump truck, failed to stop at a red light and hit the bus. A 51-year-old woman who was driving the bus and a passenger were both taken to the hospital.

They have serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the dump truck was issued a citation for driving through the red light.

The crash involved a fuel spill, and two lanes in the area are closed while HAZMAT crews respond.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
