Yuma gears up for Third of July

Yuma will be having its traditional Third of July celebration, Sunday at the Jeff Armstrong Ball Park Complex.
The fun begins at 6 p.m. with the presentation of colors by the Yuma VFW Color Guard, and Addilyne Pagel singing the National Anthem.

The crew from Smithfield will be serving free hot dog meals right after the anthem.
The Bank of Colorado is sponsoring a pie eating contest at 6:30, with adult and youth divisions.
There will be fun activities throughout the complex, such as a bouncy house sponsored by First FarmBank, a water slide bouncy house sponsored by TBK Bank, and mini golf sponsored by 21st Century Equipment. There also will be various outdoor games, donated by ACE/Quality Farm & Ranch Center.
Groups that will have booths set up are Y.U.M.A., Northeastern Junior College, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, Kool Shavings and Carl Jesse’s Cotton Candy.
The evening will come to a conclusion with the Yuma Volunteer Fire Department conducting the fireworks show after sundown. The plan as of earlier this week was to proceed with the fireworks despite the dry conditions.
