Car crashes into semi on I-75 North in Dayton, causes freeway to be shut down for hours

DAYTON — A car crashed into a semi-trailer on I-75 Northbound in Dayton Friday afternoon, resulting in many holiday travelers being stopped for hours.

Crews were called to a car underneath a semi-trailer on I-75 North at Edwin C Moses around 5:15 p.m., according to Montgomery County dispatch.

Sergeant Christopher Savage with Dayon Police Department said the driver of the car failed to control his car, sideswiping the trailer and getting wedged underneath it.

Savage said all occupants were able to get out of their vehicles and no one had to be taken to the hospital.

The freeway reopened around 7:20 p.m.

More than 2 million Ohioans alone will be traveling this weekend, according to AAA.
