One in custody after barricade situation in West TH

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – One person is in custody following a barricade situation in West Terre Haute.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s office, on Friday at 5:18 pm, deputies were called to 5051 Old Paris Rd for a subject that had gone into a residence and was threatening to shoot the occupants.

All occupants of the residence were able to get out, leaving only the suspect, 56-year-old Derrick Johnson of western Vigo County inside.

Deputies attempted to get Johnson to come out of the residence, but he refused.

After a search warrant had been issued, the Terre Haute Police Department Special Response Team made entry into the residence and took Johnson into custody.

Johnson was booked into the Vigo County Jail and charged with felony intimidation and resisting law enforcement.
