Person dead after boat capsizes in Ohio River

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — One person died Friday after a boat they were on capsized in the Ohio River.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. According to authorities, two pleasure boats collided with a tow boat near Newberry Island. One person was knocked out of one of the smaller boats. The body was recovered late Friday afternoon.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene. The U.S. Coast Guard and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources are conducting an investigation.
