Authorities seized more than 1,000 fentanyl pills and more than 20 grams of heroin in two separate drug busts in north Alabama that led to the arrests of five suspects, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.
On Thursday, agents with the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a Florence home, where they found more than 1,000 fentanyl pills, 30 grams of cocaine, scales, plastic bags and multiple long assault-type rifles, the office said.
Bradley Christopher Gandy, 26, of Florence, was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, unlawful possession with intent to distribute cocaine, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Three other Florence residents -- Olivia Synclair Young, 28; Jeffrey Lee Horison, 31; and 45-year-old Misty Dawn Davis Horrison -- were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
On June 21, the task force received a tip that Bradley Lenard Burt was selling heroin from a hotel off of Florence Boulevard, the sheriff’s office said Friday.
Agents received a search warrant for Burt’s hotel room and monitored the suspect and saw him leave the hotel.
Burt was stopped in Colbert County by task force agents and was arrested on outstanding warrants, the sheriff’s office said.
He had a small bag of heroin on him during the arrest, according to authorities.
A search of the hotel room, the sheriff’s office said, turned up about 20 grams of heroin, meth and drug paraphernalia.
Burt was charged with trafficking in heroin and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
