Lake City’s Fourth of July celebration is known as the “Greatest Fourth in the North.”
Thousands visit for the four-day weekend, which is great news for local businesses.
Tasty Treat on Main Street is busy all year round, famous for their large servings. But this time of year is their busiest with lines stretching down the street. The days are long for staff, and maybe those waiting in line, but it’s all worth it to serve up some smiles.
“We know that they wait in the long line,” Nat Laughlin, a manager at Tasty Treat, said. “A lot of times it’s hot, sometimes it’s rainy, but just the happy on their faces when they finally get what they’ve been waiting for for an hour and 45 minutes, you know, it makes it worth it. We’re all in and busting our bums to for that satisfied customer.”
The four day long celebration includes vendors, a parade and fireworks over Lake Missaukee on Saturday night.
