ABC 33/40 is learning more about another victim of Wednesday's shooting involving 2 Bibb County deputies.
Court documents show the car Austin Patrick Hall stole and shot two deputies from, matches the description of a car stolen two days before the incident.
Papa John's delivery drivers load their cars up in the same place everyday.
On Monday, a driver’s car was stolen and days later, her family made the eerie connection to Hall.
“Monday afternoon my daughter called me and said that her car had been stolen. She’s a delivery driver for Papa John’s in Calera," said Alan Rouse.
His daughter was in between deliveries, ran inside the store to grab more pizzas, and the man in the surveillance video was lurking.
When she came back out, her car was gone.
The video shows everything that happened while she was inside.
A man paces around behind the building, finishes his drink, and then hops in her car and takes off.
“Wednesday, I get the Blue Alert while I’m at home. I read more about it, and I’m like that’s really odd. Guy’s in a stolen car not too far from we live, maybe 10 or 15 miles. It’s just weird,” said Rouse.
It gets weirder. They got a look at a surveillance picture.
“At first I got an old mugshot picture of the suspect. I was like oh, no that’s not him, he didn’t have a beard. Then I saw a more recent one, and I told my daughter, I said that’s the guy!”
That car is in evidence now. A hand-me-down from her mother and her very first car for her first job.
She’s been working at Papa John’s to help pay for college. No car now, but that’s not stopping her.
“She’s a little limited because of her physical disabilities from Tourette’s and fibromyalgia. Makes it difficult to stand for long periods of time, but she did go in the other day. Her manager came and picked her up,” said Rouse, proud that Papa John's is so accommodating.
Her coworkers have put together a gofundme to help the families of the deputies impacted.
It’s been quite the week, and just like the rest of the community, the Rouse family is mourning too.
“We really do feel heartbroken for the officers, but we really do thank them for what they do for us everyday. Going out there, protecting us, and putting their life on the line,” he said.
Rouse says the car can be replaced, right now it has a great deal of damage because the car appears to have crashed during the chase. They’re working with the insurance company to figure out the next steps.
