GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The kitchen just got a little more crowded over at 40 North Tap + Grille.

40 North has named Grand Island Native, John Dealey, as the executive chef for the restaurant.

Dealey graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1993. He spent eight years in the United State Army before embarking on his culinary career. After graduating from the Metropolitan Culinary Arts school in Omaha, Dealey set out to perfect his craft working most recently at the Hulett, Wyoming golf course and restaurant, a destination location for tourists visiting Devil’s Tower.

“In a time when staffing shortages plague not only the restaurant industry, but all business in general, we are extremely fortunate to have John join our team,” said 40 North Owner Jay Vavricek. “He brings with him the expertise in food preparation that our 40 North customers are accustomed to.”

Dealey said his recipe for success is clear cut.

“We want to keep our dishes simple and yet elegant using quality ingredients prepared to our customers specifications,” said Dealey. “While concentrating on 40 North staples of Nebraska angus steaks, fresh seafood and pasta, we will also prepare specialty entrées for the most discriminating pallet.”

Vavricek said they’ve been very selective in choosing the right person to lead their kitchen staff and they believe John brings both the talent and finesse in food preparation that will have customers asking for more.

40 North is open at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 520 West 3rd in Grand Island.
