The home at 439 Thomas Ave., in Forest Park, has a unique history. And a Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago (BHHS Chicago) agent recently took part in its historic purchase. April Baker of the Gillian Baker Team represented the buyers who acquired the four-bedroom, 3,600-square-foot home that sold for $830,000: a record for the area.

“I congratulate April on this very special sale,” John Lawrence, the managing broker of BHHS Chicago’s Oak Park, River Forest and Elmhurst offices, said in a press release. He also expounded on Baker’s special connection to the property: She was an original developer on 439 Thomas Ave.

Construction began in 2018 and when the house hit the market in 2019, it was the highest-priced single-family home in Forest Park — for the first time. It sold for $735,000. That same year, the development won a Forest Park Pride Award, which recognizes efforts in to beautify the village.

Following that honor, Baker described her intentions in the Forest Park Review. Wanting to bring the space “back to its former glory,” Baker was also sure to add “all the bells and whistles that make life easy.”

And now, the home has sold for yet another record-breaking sum. “I am very proud of 439 Thomas,” Baker said in the press release. “The way everything came together — my intimate knowledge of the home … it was all just meant to be,” she said.
