Two dead in suspected murder-suicide in Town Creek

Both died as the result of gunshot wounds.

TOWN CREEK, Ala. — Two people are dead in a suspected murder-suicide in Town Creek. They've been identified by the Lawrence County coroner as Sheneaka Davis, age 33, and Daricus "Rico" Yarborough, also 33. The two shared a child.

Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood said a 911 call was made at 6:19 p.m., and that Davis had been shot.

Town Creek Police Chief Jarred Garrett said Yarborough left the scene in a gray Maxima. He reportedly went to his home and shot himself. The call to Norwood went out at 6:41 P.M.

The chief says that a few months ago, he and another officer went to Davis's when she wanted him "trespassed'. He explained that she had called concerning an "unwanted guest", namely Yarborough. Garrett says that he explained the PFA (Protection from Abuse) order to Davis and told her she should get one because she was expressing concern. Garrett also trespassed Yarborough.

Garrett expressed his gratitude for the other agencies that were on the scene, including ALEA state troopers, Courtland Police, and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office. He said that even with that number of responders, everything at both death scenes was handled smoothly, and he's very appreciative of that.
