On the final night in June and the last night of league play before the Fourth of July holiday weekend, several teams and players stayed as hot as fireworks on Thursday night in the Lehigh Valley Varsity Boys Basketball League at the Whitehall-Coplay School District complex.

Allentown Central Catholic won the Cedar Beach Showcase on Sunday and picked up another win in the summer league on Thursday night to improve 7-2 in league play with less than two weeks left in the regular season.

With less than two weeks left until the regular season wraps up on July 14, three teams remain unbeaten — Northwestern Lehigh in the small-school division and Parkland and Muhlenberg Township in big-school competition.

In addition, Jahrel Vigo, a rising sophomore from Allentown Central Catholic, backed up his MVP performance in last weekend’s Cedar Beach Showcase with a 23-point effort in an win over Pocono Mountain East.
