Vail Resorts says it will cover abortion travel costs for employees

PARK CITY, Utah — In light of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Vail Resorts announced this week that employee medical coverage has been expanded for abortion, with an added travel reimbursement of up to $4,000 if services require traveling to a different state.

“We have tens of thousands of teammates in the U.S. spread across 16 states who now, because of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, will have varying access to reproductive healthcare,” the company said in a statement.

“We believe everyone is entitled to make choices about their own reproductive health, no matter where they live… Our team is at the core of our mission and we remain committed to ensuring they have the resources and support they need to be healthy and safe.”

Park City is the only Vail-operated resort in the West where there is an active abortion ban. Vail Resorts Director of Corporate Communications Jamie Alvarez said seasonal full-time workers will have access to the benefit.

Numerous other companies across the country have announced similar policies, including Starbucks, Tesla, Netflix, and Patagonia.
