MARION COUNTY, IL — A 40-year-old Vernon woman pleaded guilty Thursday in Marion County Court to stabbing her estranged husband and his friend earlier this year and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Heidi Wynn was arrested in April and charged with Class 2 felony aggravated domestic battery, Class 3 felony aggravated battery, and misdemeanor battery for stabbing her estranged husband Brian Thompson and his friend David Worley while they were sitting in a pickup truck in the driveway of Thompson’s home.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Thompson was stabbed seven to ten times and Worley a single time in the abdomen with a long fish filet knife.

The incident was first reported to Centralia Police when the two men showed up at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment of injuries. Both were later airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.

Wynn was later arrested by sheriff’s deputies who picked her up after she allegedly threatened to jump off the Boone Street overpass on Interstate 57.

She pleaded guilty Thursday to the Class 3 felony and misdemeanor charges in exchange for the more serious Class 2 felony being dismissed. She was sentenced to four years on each charge to be served concurrently.
