The Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association (PaHSSBCA) has announced their 2022 All-State Teams and three Clarion Area Bobcats have been selected to the Class-1A Team.

Noel Anthony was named to the First Team as an outfielder, and Kylee Beers and Jordan Best were named to the Second Team at third base and catcher respectively.

This is the second year in a row that this trio has made All-State. Noel was named to the 2021 First Team at second base. Kylee was named to the Second Team, last year, at first base and Jordan was a Second Team selection at catcher, in 2021.

Noel and Jordan were also on the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) Class – A All-State Squad during their senior year, with Jordan also being named as a Junior. Noel was named as a setter and Jordan as a Libero.

Clarion Area Head Coach Dan Shofestall shared about what this means to this trio and the entire Bobcats as a program. “I just wanted to congratulate Noel, Kylee and Jordan on being named to the Pennsylvania  Class A High School  State Softball Team. It’s always nice to see players from our team receiving high honors like this, especially at the state level. For these three girls to be named this award in back to back years speaks well for themselves and the Clarion Softball program and their teammates.”

Coach Shofestall commented on what each brought to the Bobcats:

NOEL ANTHONY

“Noel was moved from second base to the outfield this year to help shore up our defense. She did a fantastic job of taking good angles to pursue balls hit into the gaps among many other things..

“Offensively she was our leadoff hitter batting .509 with a .603 on base percentage. Her 28 hits included 6 doubles, and 4 triples. She had 10 RBI’s and scored twenty-two runs.

“Noel was also an effective baserunner from the leadoff spot. She also showed a good eye at the plate as she walked eleven times. She also reached base on twice from being hit by pitches.

“Noel also did not strike out all season long.

“As a leadoff hitter she did everything we asked, wanted  and expected her to be as our leadoff hitter.”

 KYLEE BEERS

“Kylee played with some injuries the second half of the season and missed some games, but that did not prevent her from putting up some impressive numbers.

“She registered a .426 batting average and a .522 on base percentage. In 42 at bats, she recorded twenty hits.

“Half of her hits went for extra bases, which included 5 doubles, 1 triple and four homers, including a walk-off homer against Cranberry.

“She had 18 RBI’s while walking 4 times with only three strikeouts.

“Defensively Kylee played third base and showed a strong arm with a .993 fielding percentage.

“She was a strong and powerful hitter.”

JORDAN BEST

“Jordan was our catcher and did a great job behind the dish. She was a leader back there and the backbone of our defense. Her strong arm kept a lot of would be baserunners from attempting to steal. She was good at blocking pitches which is always important.

“At the plate, she hit .333 with an on base percentage of .424. She recorded nineteen hits. She hit with some power with 5 doubles, 2 triples and 3 home runs while driving in nineteen runs. She scored 19 runs while walking 5 times and getting hit by four pitches.

“On the bases, Jordan was a very instinctive runner who always took advantage of defensive lapses by keeping  her head on a swivel.”

Coach Shofestall closed by saying, “Noel, Kylee and Jordan have put in a lot of time and effort over the years to get to where they are and become the players that they have become, and it was nice to see them recognized for those efforts at the highest levels.

“I’ve also always felt that any time you get recognized for any kind of award, whether it is the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference, District Nine or at the State level, it is a great reflection of all of the players on the team and the school.

“I’m sure Noel, Kylee and Jordan would be the first to say they couldn’t have been named and reached these  lofty awards without the help from their fellow teammates.

“Congratulations once again to Noel, Kylee and Jordan on being named Pennsylvania All-Staters on back to back years.”
