DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department is asking the public to come forward with any information about the whereabouts of a former Detroit Police officer whose gun and car were used in a shooting.

Anyone who has seen ex-DPD officer Stefon Hodo should contact Detroit Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up (1-800-773-2587).

For background: The first of two shootings in this case happened at around 11:15 a.m. Thursday in the 15300 block of Ferguson on the city's west side, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that the suspect (seen in the video footage above, provided by the DPD) fired shots into a home at that location, and then returned at around 2:30 p.m. to open fire at the house a second time.

Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, went to the front door and exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The victim was shot once in the finger before the gunman fled the scene.

Later, at around 11 p.m., the suspect was arrested by Detroit Police with help from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police, in the area of Tireman and Schaefer Hwy.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Upon further investigation, police discovered that the suspect in this case had stolen Hodo’s vehicle and weapons and used them in the shooting.

Both the vehicle and weapons have been recovered.

On Friday, police were trying to locate Hodo, who served in the DPD from 2005-2013, as they are concerned for his well-being.

This arrest was conducted as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Initiative, a partnership between Wayne County Executive Warren Evans and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan. "We appreciate the coordination between DPD, Michigan State Police, and the Fugitive Apprehension Service Team consisting of DPD officers and Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies," police said.

The suspect's name has not been released, pending an arraignment.
