The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Thursday that the Cave-in-Rock Ferry would continue to provide regular service under a new two-year contract.
They said the new two-year 3.3 million contract would keep the ferry operating on the regular 16-hour a-day schedule from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The Cave-in-Rock Ferry connects KY Hwy 91 in Crittenden County with Ill. Route 1 in Hardin County, Ill., carrying approximately 500 vehicles daily across the river.
They said the ferry is jointly funded by the KYTC and the Illinois Department of Transportation through the Ohio River Ferry Authority operated by the Crittenden County Fiscal Court.
