Shane Douglas, teenager killed in Brimfield crash, is remembered for ‘infectious’ smile and ‘avid lover of sports’ in obituary, funeral is Friday

Shane Douglas is being remembered for his “infectious” smile, “class clown humor” and being an “avid lover of sports.”

Douglas, 18, was one of three teenagers killed in a single-vehicle crash in Brimfield early Sunday morning. Vincent “Vinnie” Ardizzoni, 17 and Dominick “Dom” Gardner, 17, were also killed in the crash, according to a Massachusetts State Police.

A 17-year-old Brookfield boy, who was not named, was also in the car but left the scene before police arrived and went to Harrington Hospital on his own with serious injuries, authorities said.

Douglas graduated Quaboag Regional School in 2021 and “had proudly joined his father working full time as a fill room attendant at Ivey Industries,” his obituary states.

“He will be greatly missed by his best friend Christopher Butler, his aunts, uncles, many, many cousins, countless friends and his devoted girlfriend Ella Sheldon,” it reads.

Friends and family remember Douglas as never staying in one place and spent his time being active.

“He was admired for his athleticism and participation of basketball, baseball, track and football, in which Shane proudly wore the number 21 jersey as he played left guard and defensive end for Quaboag Regional School and the towns of Warren and West Brookfield,” the obituary reads. “Even when he wasn’t playing football or going to the gym, Shane was riding the slopes in places like Wachusett and Cannon Mountain with his brothers on his snowboard.”

And due to his love of sports, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Quaboag Athletic Department in lieu of flowers.

He could also many anyone laugh, according to the obituary.

“His smile was infectious, he could make anyone laugh with his sweet loving ways or his class clown humor,” it read.

The teenager’s funeral is Friday, July 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Varnum Funeral Home, which is located at 43 East Main St. in West Brookfield.
