The Delray Police Department is warning homeowners about a scam where thieves dress up as utility workers to gain access to the home.
Officials are reporting that the scam becomes more popular during the summer months.
The scammers typically dress up in utility gear or a hard hat and ask to gain access to your home.
In order to avoid becoming a victim, police advise homeowners to never allow anyone they don’t know into their home without a valid ID.
They also say to take note of the vehicle they are driving and if there are still doubts, call the company person claims they work for.
