MHP urges drivers to slow down, be patient, drive safely this holiday weekend

Pack your patience if you’re traveling this holiday weekend, as many people will be hitting the road to see their loved ones.

Mississippi Highway Patrol will have more troopers out for the holiday weekend which starts today and runs through Tuesday at midnight.

MHP will be looking for impaired and distracted drivers, as well as those who are speeding.

Interstate 10, Highway 67 and Highway 49 are among the top areas for speeding complaints.

According to MHP, 151 crashes with two fatalities were investigated during last year’s Independence Day holiday travel period.
