WAUPACA (WLUK) -- A New London woman has been sentenced for providing the drugs in two fatal overdoses.
April Hardegen, 31, was sentenced to six years in prison and four years on extended supervision.
Earlier this year, she pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree reckless homicide, plus counts of delivery of heroin and child neglect.
The first overdose death was in April 2021, where Kendra Rateau was found dead at a New London home. Jordan May died after an overdose in May 2021.
According to the criminal complaint, Aaron Van Dyke and Hardegen would travel to Milwaukee and bring drugs back to Waupaca County. Van Dyke returns to court for a status conference July 21.
Demargieon Hillard-Carter's Milwaukee residence was searched as part of the investigation. Drugs, weapons, and cash were seized. No trial date has been set for Hillard-Carter, who also faces a reckless homicide charge in Waupaca County.
