The Unified Police Department is responding to a Kearns neighborhood's complaints of concertgoers parking their cars on residential streets.

UPD's Kearns Precinct posted a message to social media that officers would be patrolling streets in the Walnut Hills neighborhood Friday evening. Police said they would be issuing citations to people who use the neighborhood streets as parking for a Chris Stapleton concert at USANA Amphitheatre.

"We know concert goers parking in the neighborhood has been a problem," according to the post, "so we will have 2 officers working overtime patrolling the area."

The amphitheater is located just north of the residential area in neighboring West Valley City.

Authorities said the officers "can't be everywhere" and asked residents to contact police if they see people parking on the street who are specifically going to the concert.

"Please explain to dispatch and to the officer that you saw the people in the car walk toward the (amphitheater) and why you believe they were going to the concert," according to UPD.

Residents reporting a parking issue may be asked to sign a citation "as officers can't issue a citation on something they didn't see."

"Please continue to be patient," police posted. "We are working closely with USANA and with your elected officials on this problem."
