OG&E officials announced Friday that customers will see a monthly increase in their bills following a rate review by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
The energy company said it reached a $30 million settlement in a request to state regulators to adjust base rates.
The settlement resulted in a 1.9% monthly increase in the average residential customer bill, according to a news release. The percent increase is roughly $2.07 per month.
OG&E also said the settlement includes a monthly increase to the Low Income Assistance Program credit, a new low-cost pricing plan for electric vehicle owners and a refund to customers related to a reduction in Oklahoma's corporate income tax rate.
"We appreciate the open and transparent rate review process conducted by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission," Christi Woodworth, vice president of marketing and communications for OG&E, said in the news release. "The settlement is a fair compromise that provides great benefits for our customers while allowing us to recover critical and necessary investments made to improve the electric grid."
The $30 million settlement is subject to final approval by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
While the OCC reviews the settlement, the news release states Oklahoma law allows OG&E to implement interim rates to recover certain investments. The interim rates will go into effect on Friday, July 1.
The news release adds that OG&E's last increase to base rates was in 2017.
