Legion Halo: Lenovo's rumored upcoming Android flagship smartphone allegedly clears TENAA testing ahead of its launch

Lenovo's Legion Y series acquired its very first cutting-edge Android gaming smartphone in early 2022, which is now projected to gain a successor of sorts in the same year. On the other hand, it may launch with a slightly different product name, currently tipped to go by the moniker Halo rather than launch as something like the Y91.

This ambiguity notwithstanding, it is now much more certain that the next mobile device with Legion branding has the model number L71091. This identifier has now been set in stone by the regulator TENAA, which has registered the smartphone as one that runs a processor with a clockspeed of 3.0GHz.

This all but endorses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, if not an 8+ Gen 1, platform for the upcoming phone, which has now also been confirmed to leave any trace of the innovative design legacy of its Legion Phone-series predecessors behind. 

Its profoundly conventional build, color and logo placement does match that of the Legion Y700 tablet closely, (probably the idea from the beginning, in fairness) although it has 3 rear cameras (in, again, an inescapably boring portrait-oriented corner-mounted hump) and a smaller ~6.67-inch ("154.56mm x 69.55mm") display.

These components are referred to as 50+13+8MP and FHD+ respectively in the new "Legion Halo" leak. The L71091 is also now associated with 8, 12 or 16GB RAM options, and with up to 500GB of internal storage.

Therefore, should this new potential Legion mobile gaming flagship debut with a 144Hz refresh rate as thought, it might just prove a hit thanks to a combination of on-trend features and high-performance internals.
