Hillsdale High alumnus tabbed as new Hillsdale College track coach

Hillsdale High graduate R.P. White is the new track coach at Hillsdale College.

Hillsdale College on Thursday named R.P. White as the new head coach for track and field.

White is a Hillsdale native and a graduate of Hillsdale High School. He has been an assistant coach for the Chargers’ cross country and track programs for more than a decade. He started as an assistant coach under then-head coach Jeff Forino in 2011.

White takes over from Andy Towne, who retired in May.

White takes over a program which sent 14 athletes to the Division II National Championships this past season, with 12 of those set to return.

White graduated from Hillsdale High School in 2005 where he was a three-time all-state cross country runner and took fourth in the 3200 at the Division 3 state track meet as a senior.

He then ran at Eastern Michigan where he was part of eight MAC championships between cross country and track, and was the cross country team captain as a senior.
