CAPPAERT GALLERY WELCOMES NEW ARTISTS

Cappaert Contemporary Gallery has recently added the work of three artists.

Mary Bergs uses vintage postcards and superimposes simple shapes, creating a juxtaposition of seemingly contradictory elements. She’s also an installation artist who’s known for her large-scale compositions of found and made objects and images.

Sculptor Mark Hargarten works in resin: a distinctive material with transparent effects. His recent series of crows and ravens reimagines the natural world and pushes the boundaries of mold-making and sculptural pours.

Julie Jerman-Melka creates jewelry – wearable sculptures – from stones, basalt, freshwater pearls, white topaz and sterling silver. The shapes she sees in the forests along the lakes influence her designs.

Pieces by these artists are joining the creations of other talented artists who work in painting, sculpture, encaustic, jewelry, glass, wood and mixed media. Cappaert Contemporary Gallery (cappaertcontemporary.com), 7901 Hwy 42 in Egg Harbor, is open daily, 10 am – 5 pm, through Oct. 31.
