Upstate Highways continue to be treacherous terrain this summer. Three fatal wrecks have been reported in as many days around the area. The first of the fatal collisions happened Wednesday morning on Hwy 72 about a mile and a half south of Abbeville. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver of a Ford F150 hit a curb blowing out both passenger side tires, then went off the road and hit a tree causing the truck to roll onto its side. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The Highway Patrol reports that the driver of a Toyota Camry ran off the right side of the road, hit a road sign, then lost control and went back across the highway running off the leftside of the road, then struck a ditch and a tree .

The latest fatal collision happened early Friday morning in Laurens County. The Highway Patrol says one person is dead and two people injured in the single vehicle crash. Master Trooper Brandon Bolt says, the driver of a 2013 Jeep Cherokee ran off the roadway on Charlottes Road about 2 miles west of Clinton. The SUV struck a culvert, overturned and then struck a utility pole. The driver and front seat passenger were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. A back seat passenger died at the scene.
