HARKERS ISLAND, N.C. — Workers with the National Park Service’s Cape Lookout National Seashore helped a loggerhead sea turtle in need on Thursday.

The turtle crawled onto the beach at Harkers Island, laid her nest and got disoriented.

“She [dragged] herself all the way through a tern colony to a sound side mudflat, then turned back and crawled back through the tern colony towards ocean,” Cape Lookout National Seashore’s Facebook post read. “She was pretty exhausted and hot.

“We ended up pouring some water on her to help revive her and get her back to the water.”

The video shows the sea turtle making it back to ocean by having enough water under her to float. She then takes off through the waves back into the water.
