The Texas high school football season is right around the corner, as earlier this week we previewed the Week One schedules for all the teams in Hopkins County. While excitement is beginning to build amongst fans, the people behind the scenes still have some preparation to do.

This fall, there may be a chance for fans who have wanted to get closer to the game to do exactly that. Do you enjoy football? Are you looking to make a little extra cash while getting the best seat in the house? Become a football official and see the game up close!

We reached out to some local officials to get their experience on it. “If you’re a fan of football, there is no better way to get close to the action than being an official.”
“Great camaraderie,” another one said. “Give back to the game and make a little money while doing it.”
“The lifelong friends you will gain from officiating is worth more than any amount of money you could make,” another official said.
While sports all over have seen a rise in demand for more officials, high school football is no different. If you’d like to start your officiating career, check out the Chapter you’d most like to join above.
