(WYMT) - Reactions and condolences from local, state and federal officials are still coming in following Thursday night’s shooting in Floyd County.

For local law enforcement, they are grieving the loss of fellow colleagues.

“Anytime a member of law enforcement loses their life...it has a devastating effect,” deputy chief of the Hazard Police Department James East said.

Not only are officers dealing with grief, but the situation is also a stark reminder of risk law enforcement take every day.

“The situation in Floyd County reminds us of the inherent dangers that law enforcement officers face every day,” public affairs officer for the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department Gilbert Acciardo said.

Officers across the region are sending their thoughts and prayers to the Allen community.
