NFL.com put out its prediction of which players they think will make the All-Rookie team in 2022 and only one Seahawks player was among them.

If this turns out to be the case, that isn’t a good thing for the Seahawks. General manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll made a concerted effort this offseason to try to get the team to be younger, hungrier and faster.

Seattle is going to need its rookies, as many of them as possible, to have immediate positive impacts for the coming season to be a successful one. In fact, there are three rookies for the Seahawks that have a really good chance at starting in Week 1: Charles Cross, Abe Lucas and Coby Bryant.

Of the three above, Cross is the player that NFL.com thinks will make the NFL All-Rookie team. But where NFL.com might have gotten it most incorrect where Seattle players go is at running back.

Seahawks Charles Cross only Seattle player on NFL.com’s All-Rookie team prediction

Dameon Pierce of the Houston Texans and James Cook of the Buffalo Bills are the two named on the team. Cook might get a lot of touches for Buffalo and the Bills have an excellent offense so the focus won’t solely be on him. Pierce, however, is going to a lousy team.

Plus, Seattle’s Ken Walker can’t be overlooked. The Seahawks clearly want to get back to running the ball a bit more instead of having Russell Wilson throwing too much. Chris Carson seems unlikely to play any time soon, if at all this year. Rashaad Penny, the presumed starter, is always a play away from a new injury, it seems.

So Walker could end up with the bulk of the carries for the Seahawks this season. That would mean a lot of production, especially if he can catch the ball out of the backfield as well. It is not a stretch to think Walker could easily lead all rookies in rushing yards in 2022.

Hopefully, however, NFL.com will be extremely far off how many Seattle players make the All-Rookie team. There was a lot of talent in Seattle’s 2022 draft class and if many of them have a good season so will the team overall as well.
