On Thursday, the City of Springfield held a public comment meeting on the 2022 annual action plan.

In order to qualify for a community development grant, the City of Springfield is required to create and submit an annual action plan.

This plan details the community planning and development goals the city will prioritize over the next year.

"When funds go unspent, HUD does a timeliness report," said Krista Kolis, operations coordinator for the City of Springfield. "And if we go for a certain period of time and we haven't spent our funds, HUD could actually claw back funds from us so it's very important that we get these funds out of the door in an efficient and quick manner."
